Faculty Awards

  • Hippocratic Award - 2007 Recipient: Dr. Patrick Duff

    The Hippocratic award was established by the medical school Class of 1969 as an award honoring physicians who represent the highest ideals of professionalism, humanism, and teaching prowess. Each year the graduating class selects a recipient of this honor after considering these ideals and the way in which their instructors measure up to all aspects of Hippocratic practice. Student Awards

  • AOA/Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship
  • College of Medicine Academic Perfection Award - This award recognizes students who have maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average during each year of medical school
  • American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology Award for Excellence in Pathology - This award recognizes a second-year student who has excelled in the General and Systemic Pathology courses.
  • Leonard Tow Award - Each year, given to one student who shows outstanding humanism.

  • AOA Research Award - Determined by committee on basis of presentations at Medical Student Research Day.
  • AMA Educational Research Foundation Award - Determined by committee on basis of presentations made at Medical Student Research Day.
  • Barbara B. Bennett, M.D. Memorial Award - Established by the Class of 2002 and the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology to recognize an outstanding third-year student pursuing a career in Obstetrics & Gynecology who best exemplifies Dr. Bennett's devotion and commitment to women's health.
  • Bythewood & Baker Memorial Scholarship Award for Women Medical Students - Highest ranked female student in third-year class after selection of COM Alumni Scholarship Awards
  • Caroline Cody Memorial Scholarship Award - Presented to a third-year student. Committee chaired by Dr. Watson
  • Chapman Service & Humanity in Medicine Award - For a second year student - outstanding community service in a leadership role. Nominated by class. Selection Committee: Drs. Watson, Davidson, Duff, Rhonda Waddell, Student President of Humanism Society.
  • Class of 1980 Hazel Donegan Scholarship Award - Third-year student, Top 15 in class, Excellent peer evaluations, and Financial need.
  • COM Alumni Scholarships for Academic Excellence - #2-5 ranked students in third-year class
  • Craig Spencer Memorial Award - Presented to a third-year student who has demonstrated an unusually compassionate and caring manner. Usually given to the runner-up for the Caroline Cody Award. Committee chaired by Dr. Watson
  • Distinguished Service Award - Distinguished service (e.g. Equal Access, mission trips). Nominations solicited from first and second year classes.
  • Equal Access Awards - Faculty & Students - Selected by directors of Equal Access Clinic in second year class.
  • Genevra Todd & Henry E. Meleney Award - #3 ranked student in second-year class
  • Haven Perkins Award - #2 ranked student in second-year class
  • John Harrington Tanous, M.D. Research Award - Award supported by Watson Clinic. Award recognizes outstanding research by a medical student. Selected by Student Research Committee
  • The Lawrence M. Goodman Trust Award - For distinguished research. Selection made by Dr. Sumners.
  • Mark W. Herrbold Memorial Award - Nominations from third-year class. Selection by Office of Student Affairs with input from Fran Herrbold, M.D.. Emphasis on student who has "overcome adversity" to succeed in medical school.
  • Palm Beach County Medical Society Auxiliary Scholarship - Third-year student with highest GPA who is a graduate of a Palm Beach County high school.
  • Scott Gross, M.D. Memorial Pathology Book Award - Nominations by first-year class. Emphasis on high peer evaluations and musical/artistic talent. Selection Committee from Dean's Office makes final decision.
  • UF Medical Guild - Mrs. J.H. Miller Award - #1 in first-year class.
  • UF Medical Guild Scholarship Award - #1 in second-year class and #1 in third-year class
