Collector's Day at the University of Florida

University of Florida Disc Golf Day - Sunday, November 17

Members - don't forget to come out and help for the tournament. Flyers should be out and about so we're hoping to have a good student turnout (and possibly out of towners).

Meeting of HDD Members - Friday, October 11
There will be a meeting of the HDD Members on Friday, 7:00pm at Wayne's to discuss the upcoming Lake Wauberg Tournament to be held on November 17th. As in the past, this will be a very informal tournament with two rounds at 12:00 and 2:00, respectively. Please be sure to attend as we will need people to help organize even the little things. As well, we will discuss a work-day out at Lake Wauberg to clean up after Josephine.

Gainesville's Apartment Association's Casino Night - Updated 06/27/96
Here's some of the club helping out at the Wal-Staf booth for Casino Night.

SPARC Family Fun Day was a great success! - Updated 05/13/96
The club spent all day on Saturday, May 11 at the Alachua County Fairgrounds for the SPARC Family Fun Day. We set up a small temporary four-hole course and gave away fastback discs to all who participated. We received quite a bit of positive feedback for our efforts and hope to have gained many new disc golfers as a result.

Dunnellon Disc Golf Course Open! - Updated 01/22/96
Eighteen Mach II PoleHoles are now in place at the Dunnellon Disc Golf Course. For more detailed information, check the course information page.

New Course in Ocala!
We have obtained the necessary approval and insurance promises to install an 18 hole course in Ocala. We will utilize Tom Monroe's Mach II PoleHoles that were originally going to be used at Greentree Park. The course will be located off Exit 68 (SR 200) of Interstate 75. This course has great potential and we plan to make this the largest disc golf course in the state of Florida - possibly as big as 10,000 feet long from the pro pads!! PoleHoles are expected to be installed sometime in January. An official announcement of the opening of the course will appear here.

Greentree Park - Updated 12/18/95
Greentree Park is located on 39th Avenue North just east of the Girl's Club. The course was designed by Tom Monroe, Bill Hileman, and Todd Barnash. It features short, tight holes with plenty of trees. We have installed tee markers and bamboo sticks for targets. At the moment, we are unsure of the status of poleholes being installed due to the questionable safety of the surrounding neighborhoods. All 18 holes are laid out, however a few of the targets are now missing. These will be replaced, as they were relatively inexpensive. The next project is to design a simple map of the hole layouts.

Updated news on Greentree Park
The City of Gainesville is reluctant to supply the necessary insurance on Tom Monroe's PoleHoles, so we have decided to leave Greentree as an object course. Our hopes are to install permanent objects to replace the small bamboo sticks that are currently in the ground.

Lake Wauberg Tee Signs
The tee-signs for the front nine holes are installed and look great! The back nine has all been claimed by sponsors and are in the works.
