Format
Each week, a student in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Advanced Concentration
presents a journal article from the current literature to the group of BMB students,
postdocs, and faculty. Senior (4th year) students have the option of giving a
research seminar or presenting a journal article. Two faculty members and one student
are assigned as "readers" and they are available
to answer questions and help with the preparation of the presentation. The readers
also provide the student with feedback on the presentation to aid in the development
of strong presentation skills and the ability to critically evaluate scientific work.

The guest speaker for this spring will be
Dr. Wah Chiu , Alvin Romansky Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Molecular & Cellular Biology,
Molecular Physiology & Biophysics, and Molecular Virology & Microbiology, Baylor College of Medicine.
He will be hosted by the BMB Concentration students
and he will give his presentation on Monday, April 19 at 4 pm in room LG-101A. His visit is sponsored by
the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Center for Structural Biology.
The topic for this semester will be structural biology/biological nanomachines. Please choose articles broadly
related to this topic.
This week (Feb. 16, 2009), the first year students will present their 3rd rotation projects.
