The DNA methyltransferases of Mammals

Mammalian DNA Methyltransferases

There are currently five members of the DNA methyltransferase family in mammalian cells.  All of these proteins have their catalytic domain in the C-terminal region, and (with the exception of DNMT2) a regulatory domain in the N-terminal region.  Most of the protein-protein interactions are mediated by the N-terminal region.
