Clinical trials are research studies on new drugs or new treatments sponsored by government institutions or pharmaceutical companies that rely on volunteers to take new drugs or be subjects to new treatments. These are so-called "investigational" drugs that have not yet been approved by the FDA to market. The whole study process of Phase-I involves taking the investigational drugs, overnight stays, blood sampling, urine collections, cardiac monitoring, and vital signs depending on the study.
