UF Shands Cancer Center - International Program
As part of the Cancer Control activities of the Center, this program focuses on oncology issues pertaining to training, healthcare delivery, and health policy.
Carol Reed Ash, Ed.D., R.N., eminent scholar/professor, Kirbo endowed chair, cancer nursing, American Cancer Society professor of cancer nursing, and senior member, UFSCC, has been leading a global effort for 15 years to impact the training of oncology nursing. Ash is widely recognized for her work in this area, which she began while director of nursing education at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Joseph Woelkers, M.A., lecturer, senior member and associate director for administration, UFSCC, has a unique specialization in international cancer healthcare delivery and health policy. Woelkers' broad experience includes leading the international activities while at Johns Hopkins Oncology Center, developing cancer centers internationally as president and CEO of Health Care Operations International, LLC, and, immediately prior to arriving at the University of Florida, developing international outreach programs as vice president for outreach, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
