Mentors

One of the keys to successful completion of the combined degree program and for a career in medical research is identifying a research project and a scientific mentor. The Advisory Committee of the MD/PhD program facilitates this extremely important process by helping students meet with University faculty who have active research programs of potential interest. A monthly MD/PhD seminar series also provides an opportunity to meet investigators and to learn about scientific research projects from the faculty or from advanced MD/PhD students. Choosing a mentor is a process that is facilitated by the program staff and students advisory committee. Funded summer research electives are also available to assist in identifying a mentor lab. |
| Information about faculty members affiliated with the Ph.D. program, the Interdisciplinary Program (IDP) in Biomedical Sciences, is available via a web-based search engine. The faculty database may be searched by faculty name, department, graduate program concentration, and research keywords. Links to research profiles of graduate faculty approved by the University to train PhD students are provided. Additional faculty mentors are being identified during the planning of the Clinical & Translational research program. | |
