Robert Watson reported that Medical Education Week was a spectacular success and will be done on an annual basis. Dr. Romrell noted that the White Coat Ceremony will be July 7th. Dr. Genuardi reported that the Gainesville/Jacksonville clerkship directors retreat will be held June 7th.
Dr. Richard Rathe presented a comprehensive plan for an Informatics Curriculum
on a year-by-year basis. His report included the following recommendations:
1. Move toward with a portal interface, which would include a
comprehensive list of goals and objectives, a comprehensive calendar
and schedules, and bring the competency based evaluation form online.
2. Implement a computer PBE during orientation in 2002.
3. Review issues of required computers, laptops or handhelds.
4. Continue faculty development in the area of informatics.
5. Hire a web content developer for the College of Medicine/COMEC.
The Committee accepted Dr. Rathe's report and endorsed it as a plan for the
development of informatics at the College of Medicine.
