Evaluation Subcommittee Minutes - March 10, 1999

Section 3 of Eval document open for discussion per CC mtg.
Concerns about wording on page 11 (course dir evaluation).
Concern that it takes responsibility away from chair. Dr. Baker. Chair would
like to be involved in the process of assessing teaching faculty. Should it
read "chair and/or course director"? (Parker). "Course director in consultation
with the chair" (Romrell). Deb DaRosa used concept of journal instead of portfolio.
(Lynn) Committee agreed to replace "journal" with portfolio--do not remove sentence.
Rob Hatch proposed new competency category along with Parker Small.
Univ.of New Mexico suggestions. Committee read through all. Dr. Rooks looked
at it and liked it. Items 2 and 4 create a screen to list information, do differential,
etc., moving to next computer. A way to digest information instead of writing
down but using computer to input information (items 1-5 same as format we have
now). Can limit student's diagnoses. Scoring would be difficult. If they could
see what they originally inputted but noted it it (don't expect them to recall
this info).
