Evaluation Sub Committee
February 9, 2005
Hugh Hill Conference Room

Attendance: Drs. Rarey, Duckworth, Kellner, Ritz, Romrell, Stevens, (students) Emily Goldberg, Elisabeth Lee, Penelope Chung Thomas, Molrine Tracey, (staff) Lou Ann Cooper, Cynthia Karle, Victoria Justice (recording).

Dr. Rarey- opened the meeting with an outline of the agenda.

Topics of discussion were:

Dr. Romrell-addressed the number of evaluation questions per course/clerkship.
Students expressed that the evaluation of faculty post course/clerkship can be overwhelming.

Dr. Kellner- asked if it would be a good idea for faculty to express at the beginning of each course the importance of course evaluation.

Students suggested that categories be assigned so that individual focus could be improved.

Dr. Ritz and Romrell- agreed that the process of course/clerkship evaluations should be a simplistic as possible for the student.

Dr. Rarey-noted that an overview should be conducted to review the entire evaluation process.

Dr. Rarey-explained that reviewers will be reviewing Sub-Internships (fourth Year), and the electives will/should also be reviewed.

Dr. Rarey-mentioned to the committee to think about the topics of reliability/validity and mandated/non-mandated evaluation process. They will be discussed further at the next meeting Feb 26, 2005.
