Evaluation Sub Committee

Attendance: Drs. Rarey, Ritz, Romrell, Students-Emily Goldberg, Penny Thomas Staff-Lou Ann Cooper, Victoria Justice (recording).

Dr. Romrell presented Dr. Rarey with an award for his leadership of the Evaluation Subcommittee for the 2004-05 academic years.

Dr. Rarey announced that Bill Allen, Course director, Ethical & Legal Issues, would attend the June 1, meeting to discuss the committee's review of his course reports for the 2003-04 and 2004-05 academic years.

Review:

  1. Dr. Rarey reviewed the ED-2 document of the LCME standards. Members were encouraged to review the latest additions to the standards at http://www.lcme.org/standard.htm#latestadditions. Dr. Rarey stressed the importance of monitoring updates to LCME requirements. This policy will be in effect July 11, 2005. Dr. Romrell stated that an evaluation format is currently being developed from COMEC that will allow students to record data on a daily basis.
  2. Dr. Rarey reviewed the Medical Student Duty Hours policy. Dr. Rarey stated that the ESC might consider requesting that a question be added to student evaluations in regards to the 80-hour workweek.
