Evaluation Sub Committee
October 13, 2004
Hugh Hill Conference Room
12:00 p.m.

Attendance: K.Rarey, Dr. Romrell, Dr. Ritz, Dr. Paulette Hahn, Emily Goldberg, Cynthia Karle,Victoria Justice: Recording.

Dr. Rarey opened the meeting with an overview of the 2003-04 Fall courses, Spring courses, Clerkships (numeric & narrative). Data was reviewed and discussed with consistent and/or improved scoring overall. Two tardy spring courses were also reviewed, (Human Behavior, and Principles in Physiology). Dr. Rarey asked the committee to review the narrative comments on the courses, clerkships. He recommended that as a member it would be relevant to review the comments based on the scoring you gave an individual course/clerkship.

At this time the committee sighted that there is a lack of participation with a clerkship. Dr. Romrell was asked what the position the CC takes with this issue. He declared that if a course or clerkship director does not meet the criteria that is expected/required, they would be reviewed and possibly be effected by the overall budget allocation for their course/clerkship.

Dr. Ritz-asked Dr. Rarey about the duration of a clerkship. "Does the Evaluation Subcommittee have any input?" Dr. Rarey responded by mentioning the CC reviews the course/clerkship duration, guidelines etc. He suggested any concerns should be addressed to the CC.

Dr. Rarey commented about competencies. Rarey asked Lou Ritz to review and report to Dr. Romrell. Cynthia K. mentioned that she is continuing to update/revise a flow chart of competencies that would be able to be viewed at the website.

Meeting was adjourned at 12:50p.m. with Dr. Rarey reminding the committee to make any suggestions of a 1st year student that would qualify to join the committee in Dec-Jan of this year. He also mentioned that Dr. Kellner would be resuming a position on the committee late this fall.
