Health Care Summer Institute
For High School Students

The Office of Minority Affairs and the University of Florida Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) co-sponsor a 4-week summer camp for minority high school students with career interests in health professions.

Participants shadow several health care professions and attend workshops on study skills and test taking, including a preparatory course fot the SAT.

Students reside in campus housing and are supervised by the camp coordinator and health profession students who serve as the camp counselors.

The University of Florida AHEC serves the following counties:

West Florida AHEC: Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton

Northeast Florida AHEC: Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns, Volusia

Sawannee River AHEC: Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Marion, Putnam, Suwannee, Union

Big Bend AHEC: Bay, Calhoun, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, Washington, Wakulla
