The University of Florida College of Medicine established the Office of Minority Affairs (OMA) to recruit and retain students whose ethnic/racial groups are underrepresented in medicine(URM). We strive to educate prospective URM students on their opportunities and spark their interest in the following programs:
Who Is Underrepresented in Medicine?
The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) states:
"Underrepresented in medicine means those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population."
"The AAMC remains committed to ensuring access to medical education and medicine-related careers for individuals from these four historically underrepresented racial/ethnic groups."
