Biographical Sketch

Dr. Donna Parker is the proud mother of 2 beautiful daughters, Dawn-Marie who is 13 years old and Yana who is 10 years old. She is also a general pediatrician at UF/Shands Eastside Community Practice and Assistant Dean for Minority Affairs at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Dr. Parker was born in Jamaica where she attended High School. She immigrated to the United States to attend college and received her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Florida International University in 1986. She came to Gainesville in 1986 where she studied at the University of Florida College of Medicine and earned her M.D. degree in 1990. She then completed her residency in Pediatrics at Shands, UF.

For five years she worked at the Alachua County Health Department as a Pediatrician, then returned to the University of Florida in her current positions.

She is motivated by the ever increasing needs of minority children, adolescents and young adults for healthcare, education, nurturing and mentoring. She receives support from her family, close friends, colleagues and co-workers.
