General Outline for Grant Writing Course
Goal:
- To help participants understand the grant making process and to demonstrate basic grant writing concepts with a focus on the national institutes of health
Objectives:
- Familiarize participants with selected sponsor websites
- Provide skills for successful grant application preparation
Instructor:
- Dr. Elaine Young, Office of Research Development, COM
Classes:
- Two, 1-hour classes per week
Prerequisites:
- Knowledge of english language and basic written communication skills

- Locating an RFA or PA
- Locating a Program and a Study Section
- Developing a telephone introduction
- Writing an abstract and a short proposal
