Education and Training
ORD can assist faculty members in locating sources of funding and interpreting sponsor instructions, and will provide one-on-one assistance for researchers who are unfamiliar with the grant identification/preparation process.
We can assist in:
- Identifying web tools and navigating the web to identify funding sources
- Interpreting grant solicitations and sponsor requirements
- Finding collaborators on or off campus
- Responding to and coordinating internal competitions where University submissions to external agencies are limited
- Reviewing and editing proposal narratives
- Developing multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and center grants
Upon request from 10 or more individuals (faculty, postdoctoral trainees), ORD will present a one to two-hour workshop on grantsmanship. This workshop explains how to find funding, the basic components of a grant proposal, do’s and don’ts of grant writing, etc.
The Office also offers a short 'hands-on' course in grant writing that covers all aspects of grantsmanship. Students will gain experience in searching for funding, communicating with sponsors, writing proposals, and reviewing proposals. Students will come away from this course with an in-depth knowledge of how funding agencies work.
