ATTENTION
It has come to our attention that the Division of Sponsored
Research, Proposal Processing has comprised an internal rule in regards to the
calculation of Indirect cost for the 45.5% rate increase effective 07/01/04.
Proposal processing is requiring that calculations reflect the new rate. Grant
administrators are being asked to prorate the IDC rate in the transition year
if the number of months at the new rate is 4 months or greater.
For example: if the project
period is 12/01/02-11/30/07 the IDC rate for year 1 should be calculated at
45%, year 2 should be pro-rated 7 months @ 45% and 5 months @45.5%, and years
3, 4, and 5 calculated at 45.5%.
Effective February 27, 2002, ORA will check proposals to make sure they
adhere to this new rule. For assistance in prorating calculations, go to Prorate IDC. If there are questions or concerns,
please do not hesitate contact us at 392-5398.
