2) From the FYI Digest:
A Reminder to Investigators Using Humans or Animals in
Research
To strengthen compliance with
human and animal use in research, the Division of Sponsored Research (DSR)
established procedures to suspend spending authority on grants and contracts
upon expiration dates of IRB and IACUC approvals.
To avoid this spending
authority suspension, Investigators are strongly encouraged to make their
submission requests for renewal in a time frame compatible with the IRB and
IACUC meeting dates, including allowing that the approval may not be obtained at
the first meeting, should questions arise regarding the welfare of the
subjects.
Investigators will need to notify the DSR Award Administration
Office [preferably by email at (ufawards@rgp.ufl.edu) or call 392-5991]
when the renewal process is complete.
Upon notification and confirmation,
DSR will issue a revised NOA to allow continued spending of grant and contract
funds.
