Fringe Benefit Rates

EMPLOYER COSTS OF REQUIRED BENEFITS

Effective: Fiscal Year 2009-2010

As of July 1, 2009 with the approval of the Federal Office of Management and Budget, the University of Florida implemented the pooled fringe rate. This is an allocation method that applies fixed rates by employee groups.

The pooled fringe rate is based on actual two-year-prior activity and includes any anticipated changes in cost for the period the rates are to cover.  The rates will be recaculated on an annual or biannual basis by the Controller's Office.

UF has eight (8) rate pools which include the following benefits: FICA OASDI (Social Security), FICA Medicare, Health Insurance, Retirement, Life Insurance, Clinical disability insurance, Worker's Compensation, Vacation and Sick Leave Cash Outs, and Sick leave pool payments.
