About the Center

The Center for Musculoskeletal Pain Research

is dedicated to the study of mechanisms responsible for musculoskeletal pain; but we are also focused on patient care. Several of our faculty members evaluate and treat patients with Musculoskeletal Pain related to: Fibromyalgia Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Polymyalgia Rheumatica

Our main focus, however, is the study of pain mechanisms responsible for chronic pain states. Clinical trials are conducted in our Research Center and on the General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) of Shands Teaching Hospital at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Our Research Center is located at Health Science Center (see map of the University of Florida.)

UF Pain Research in the News

Seventh Annual Fibromyalgia Research Meeting
at the McKnight Brain Institute of the University of Florida happened on April 19th, 2008. Dr. Staud presented results of his fibromyalgia research and Dr. Christina McCrae spoke on "Cognitive Behavioral Interventions" in the treatment of fibromyalgia related insomnia. This event was attended by nearly 100 participants.
